Sloping sections can be turned into usable, good-looking space with the right retaining. We build natural rock walls, timber retaining walls and sleeper steps and edging, built to hold the ground and drain properly behind.
Rock walls add a natural look that settles into the garden, while timber gives clean lines and is often the most cost-effective way to level an area. We'll look at the slope, soil and what the wall needs to hold, and recommend what suits.

More workCommon questions
Does a retaining wall need building consent?
A wall that retains no more than 1.5 m of ground, and doesn't hold up extra load like a driveway or building, generally doesn't need consent. Higher or loaded walls need engineering and consent. We'll tell you which applies.
Why do retaining walls fail?
Usually because of poor drainage behind the wall or posts that aren't deep enough. We build in drainage and set posts to suit the wall height.
Rock or timber?
Rock has a natural, long-lasting look. Timber is often more affordable for straight runs and gives a tidy, modern finish.
