New lawn

A good lawn is all in the preparation. We remove old grass and weeds, bring in topsoil where it's needed, and level and firm the ground so the finished lawn is smooth and drains well.

Then it's your choice: sow seed for the most affordable option, or roll out ready-lawn for an instant green lawn. We'll edge it neatly against paths and gardens, and give you clear watering instructions for the first few weeks.

Common questions

Seed or ready-lawn?

Seed is cheaper but takes several weeks to establish and needs keeping off. Ready-lawn costs more but gives you a lawn straight away.

When can I walk on a new lawn?

Ready-lawn can usually take light use after about 2–3 weeks once it has rooted. A seeded lawn needs longer, usually 6–8 weeks.

What's the best time of year?

Spring and autumn are best for seed. Ready-lawn can go down most of the year as long as it's kept watered.
